As the most incredible series of all time aired its new season finale yesterday, I’m thinking why it resonates so deeply with today's audiences.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Daredevil is Matt Murdock, a lawyer who was blinded as a child in an accident that enhanced his remaining senses to superhuman levels. By day, he fights for justice in the courtroom; by night, he dons a mask and combats crime directly in Hell's Kitchen (a neighbourhood in New York City). His Catholic faith deeply informs his moral code, particularly his refusal to take a life despite facing brutal adversaries who test this boundary repeatedly. This internal struggle between mercy and justice, between working within systems and operating outside them, makes him one of Marvel's most psychologically complex heroes.
